CONSTRUCTION WORK BEGINS ON 6TH AVENUE SOUTH – VIADUCT DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

The City has started construction work on the 6th Avenue South Viaduct Drainage Improvement Project. The project area is 6th Avenue South between 1st Street South and 2nd Street as shown on the map below. The project was designed by Banner Associates and the work will include new storm sewer pipe and inlets, concrete pavement and a lighted flood warning system. The contractor for the project is V. J. Ahlers Excavating, Inc. and construction is estimated to take approximately one month, which will depend on weather or other issues causing delays. The project area will be closed to traffic during the construction project and detour traffic shall use alternate routes.

We would like to remind the public to be cautious when driving or walking near the project area, especially around work areas under construction. The City would like to thank the public for their patience during the project. Questions may be directed to the City Engineering Department at (605) 692-6629 or to Waylon Blasius at Banner Associates at (605) 692-6342.
