South Dakota Department of Health Update: 08-04-2020:
The South Dakota Department of Health has confirmed (through their COVID-19 website) that there are now 121 total cases of COVID-19 in Brookings County, and 107 of those individuals have recovered. There are currently thirteen (13) active cases and one (1) death. The COVID-19 webpage is updated daily with new cases of the coronavirus. At this time, Brookings County is in the "substantial" community spread category.

Please note there was an error in the first slide please see below for the correction: The death rate in the first slide incorrectly used the number of deaths worldwide. The COVID death rate for the U.S. as of 7/31/20 was 155,285/328,200,000 = 0.047%.
Weekly Summary: Updated - Week ending July 31st, 2020
- New cases per day have not changed much since last week, while the deaths per day have decreased slightly.
- New cases per day have decreased over the last week. Unfortunately, deaths per day are still increasing. The total number of US deaths from COVID is greater than the deaths from WWI and Korean wars combined.
- The number of new cases over the last week has increased from an average of 63 per day to 81 per day and the average number of deaths per day has increased slightly. There were 564 new cases & 8 deaths in the past week. The percent of SD cases that are 60 years or older decreased in the last half of July.
- Five new cases in Brookings this past week compared to six new cases last week = not bad
