NOTICE OF DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT PUBLIC AVAILABILITY
I-29 EXIT 130 (20th STREET SOUTH) INTERCHANGE PROJECT

The City of Brookings, Brookings County, and the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will release to the project website the draft Environmental Assessment completed for the I-29 Exit 130 (20th Street South) Interchange Project. Specific release information is:

The project proposes construction of a new interchange along I-29 at 20th Street South (approximately 2 miles south of US14/6th Street in Brookings) as well as construction of 20th Street South from 22nd Avenue South to 34th Avenue South in Brookings. Construction is scheduled for year 2022.
The study advisory team and engineering consultants have prepared the Environmental Assessment in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to develop and evaluate the type and location alternatives for a new interchange and corridor improvements.
Due to restrictions in public gatherings from the COVID-19 virus, the Environmental Assessment information will be posted on the project’s website. On the website, the public may learn about the project, view a presentation, and submit questions and comments. The presentation will summarize project activities since April and summarize the findings of the Environmental Assessment process. The deadline for submission of comments is November 19, 2020.
