Mission Statement
The City of Brookings Solid Waste Department is committed to the
management of Solid Waste employing source reduction, recycling,
waste to energy and land filling using environmentally safe methods,
while maintaining competitive user fees.
Programs
and Services
Public education, innovative technology and long range planning
will be utilized to keep the environment clean in Brookings and
the surrounding area; to save landfill space and to earn a reasonable
profit that can be transferred to the City's general fund.
The Solid Waste Department is comprised of two operations; the
Brookings Regional Landfill referred to in the budget as Solid Waste
Disposal, and the Solid Waste Collection, which includes the traditional
recycling programs.
