How To Sort Your Recyclables
The City of Brookings provides the citizens of Brookings with a
curbside Recycling Program. The recyclable products are picked up
on Thursday and Friday of each week. They are then delivered to
Cooks Wastepaper and Recycling for processing. THIS PROCESS CONSISTS
OF TWO DIFFERENT SORTS FOR RECYCLING.
Sort 2 - Plastic Products
- #1 Plastic (Pop Bottles)
- #2 Plastic (Milk Jugs)
- Plastic Containers
(Cleaning Products)
- Aluminum Cans
- Steel and Tin Cans
Plastic
- Dispose of lids, rinse and flatten
- WILL NOT ACCEPT: plastic
bags, antifreeze containers, pesticide caps, lids, styrofoam containers,
egg cartons, yogurt or butter tubs, toys, oil containers or flower
pots
Aluminum, Steel And Tin
- WILL NOT ACCEPT: pesticide or herbicide containers, pie or food
trays, contaminated foil, aerosol cans or paint cans.
- Rinse all cans, flatten or pinch tops. Labels need to be removed.
Glass Products
The City of Brookings Curbside Recycling Program WILL NOT pick up
glass products. If you are recycling glass you may drop it off at
Cook's Wastepaper and Recycling. Please remember they only accept
brown glass and clear food glass containers. If there are any question
on the recycling process please call:
