Resolution of Support for the Edgebrook Townhome Development
and Waiving of Building Permit Fees
Whereas, the City of Brookings created The Brooking Affordable Housing Task Force; and
Whereas, The Brookings Affordable Housing Task Force presented their findings and their recommendations were accepted by the City Council; and
Whereas, the report defined a need for affordable owner and renter occupied workforce housing; and
Whereas, the recommendations of the report include multiple opportunities for achievement of the goals; and
Whereas, the City Council Strategic Plan contains a desire for affordable housing by identifying, developing, and implementing programs/projects to advance the creation and availability of affordable housing for low to moderate income households for rental and owner-occupied units; and
Whereas, Haan Development proposes the construction of 40 income-based townhome rentals by utilizing state tax credits; and
Whereas, Haan Development has requested a Resolution of Support and to waive the building permit fees for the Edgebrook Townhome project.
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the City of Brookings that the proposed Edgebrook Townhome project achieves the goals of the Brookings Affordable Housing Task Force and City Council Strategic Plan.
Now, Therefore, Be It Further Resolved that the City of Brookings provides this Resolution of Support for the Edgebrook Townhome project for tax credits and the City will waive all building permit fees for the success of this project.
